Agritech startup Agrizy has elevated head of engineering and products Markish Arun as its cofounder and chief technology officer (CTO).
As its third cofounder, Arun will helm the Omnivore-backed agritech startup’s end-to-end tech and AI roadmap, involving the expansion of its intelligence layer, scaling decision-support platforms as strategic intellectual property (IP) and engineering systems for global traceable supply chain solutions.
Arun joined Agrizy as its engineering and product head in 2022. He served as the CTO for listed car rental company Zoomcar for nearly three years prior to joining Agrizy.
Arun has also dawned the entrepreneurial hat thrice during his two and half decade long career, cofounding businesses Dixsoft Business Solutions, magicrooms, Trip38 and Profit Business Solutions at different time periods. He has also worked with companies like Goibibo, Yatra and SAP Labs.
At Agrizy, Markish built its core product and engineering foundations, including its AI intelligence platform that accelerates NPD and reduces cost-to-market for global food and wellness brands. Also, he has developed an AI-driven credit engine cutting internal evaluation time by 90%.
Founded in 2021 by Vicky Dodani and Saket Chirania, Agrizy claims itself as a contract research, development and manufacturing organisation (CRDMO) for food and beverages and wellness brands across the globe. It helps these brands build products with consistent inputs, flexible processing, and assured fulfillment, backed by technology, traceability, and a wide network of captive processors.
Currently, the Bengaluru-based startup has partnered with more than 350 global and domestic brands, exporting products to over 20 countries across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia.
In August 2024, Agrizy secured $9.8 Mn in its Series A funding round from investors like Accion and Omnivore to expand into new products and regions. It also intended to enter contract manufacturing and advisory services businesses.
Overall, the five year-old startup has raised close to $20 Mn. Its cap table also includes Ankur Capital, Vivriti Capital, Thai Wah Ventures, among others.
